Description : George Freer of the LSS becomes ill.
Transcription : Sturgeon Point Jottings. A few nights ago, while on patrol along the beach between the Point and Harrisville, first watch, George Freer, of the life saving crew, met with a queer and serious happening. He was on the return trip, and while walking along as usual was suddenly taken blind, and commenced reeling to and fro, finally falling to the earth in an unconscious condition. Freer not returning to the station when he should have done, Addison Silverthorn set out on watch No. 2, and when about two miles on the beat, he came across Freer lying on the beach with his face partially buried in the sand, unconscious and groaning. He hastened back to the station and aroused the balance of the crew, who immediately got out their boat and were soon on the spot where the young man lay. After considerable rubbing and other efforts made to get up circulation of blood, they succeeded in bringing the young man to his senses, and got him to the station, but he was a very sick man for several hours afterward. He is able to be about again now, however.
