Description : Petition for assitance by Geo. Sousie, victim of Duncan McArthur.
Transcription : The following petition was laid before the Board. To the Honorable Board of Supervisors of the County of Alcona. Your petitioner respectfully represents to your Honorable Body that on the second day of November, 1889 he was living at Black River in said County and was then a strong healthy man, able to work at hard labor and thereby support his family, consisting of his wife and one child. On said second day of November, 1889, at said village of Black River, without any fault on his part, your petitioner was shot in the back by one Duncan McArthur; the ball passed nearly through your petitioner's body. Since recovering said shot your petitioner has been compelled to employ the services of physicians in trying to save his life and has incurred other expenses incident to such injury. He is now unable to labor or do anything towards the maintenance of his family or himself and he has no relatives who are able to assist him or his family. Said McArthur has for a long time been a dangerous man and in such condition has gone at liberty in this county and the foregoing injury has in consequence occurred. Your petitioner therefore prays that your Honorable Body grant to your petitioner such sum as you may think proper and necessary to aid him in his present misfortune. Geo. Sousie. Moved by Supr. Killmaster sup. by Supt. Yuill That this board do hereby recommend the Superintendents of the Poor of this County to draw an order on the Poor Fund of the amount of $150 in favor of the petitioner Geo. Sousie. Carried.
