REUBEN CHESTER: Mustered in October 15, 1861, Trenton, NJ, discharged for disability, September 15, 1863, disability, at Beaufort, North Carolina. This regiment was mainly in the North Carolina campaign. They fought the Battle of Roanoke Island, NC, Battle of New Berne, NC, Battle of Cold Harbor, crossed the Appomattox into Petersburg, VA., to guard railroads. One of their most gallant fights was crossing a burning bridge while facing the enemy at Rawle's Mill.
