Bailey, Mr. Frederick Byce to Miss Oll ie Thornton, both of Harrisville, Mich. Obituary - "FRED BYCE DIES AT ALPENA HOSPITAL (hand written "1951") Frederick Byce, aged 78 years, highly esteemed farmer of Harrisville To wnship, passed away April 28th at th Alpena General Hospital. He had be en in ill health for about four months but had helped with chores about h is farm until early in February, when he underwent an operation, and lat er had two other surgicals. Mr. Byce came to Harrisville and to the farm where he spent the remaind er of his life, when he was six years old. He was the son of Daniel and S arah Byce and was born on December 15, 1872 in Thompson, Michigan. (WJB 20 07 Note: Thompson, Schoolcraft County, UP Michigan?) His marriage to Olla Alberta Thornton took place in Harrisville on Febr uary 6, 1894. Mrs. Byce died May 22 of last year. Surviving are five children, two daughters and three sons: Daniel By ce of Flint, Mrs. John (Mabel) Cutting of Anaheim, California, James By ce of Detroit, Earl Byce of Harrisville, and Mrs. Charles (Edna) Dorr of M t. Morris, Michigan. Three brothers, Mont Byce of Harrisville, Roy By ce of Alpena, and Jeff (sic - Jesse) Byce of Washington, also survive. Th ere are eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at two o'clock Monday, April 30th, from t he Smith Funeral Chapel in Lincoln. Rev. Claire Gleason of Lincoln offici ated, and interment took place in the family plot in Springport Cemeter y, Harrisville. Pallbearers were Victor Cole, Ray Walker, Russell Gilpin, Arthur Gallow ay, Thos. Barker and Max Carvo. Among those attending the funeral from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. D an Byce, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Byce Sr., Mrs. Retta Sherman, of Flint,; Mr. a nd Mrs. Jas. Byce, Jr., and son, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hill and daughte r, H. F. Yaruik, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Genge, Lottie Wescoss, Mr. and Mr s. Kelvin Byce, Mr. and Mrs. Steele, and Mr. and Mrs. V. V. Hill, all of D etroit; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dorr and family of Mt. Morris; Mr. and Mr s.
