  Ralph was for many years a truck driver for a steel manufacturing company delivering steel to customers around the United States. In an accident with other traffic he was injured and recieved a fractured hip bone. As a younger man he worked for his grandfather Miller as a drover and trucked live stock; before he married he worked some for the County Road Commission. After his accident with the truck he moved back to Harrisville; worked for a time for the Alcona Sheriff's Department as a deputy. In 1972 he received the nomination on the Democratic Party for sheriff. Source: 1972 Milo Source Docs.
