      Obituary (The Citizen-Patriot, Atwood, Kansas, May 15, 1947): "Frank Chester Passed Away Last Thursday". Frank Marion Chester, 60, who came to Atwood from Illinois when ten years of age, and spent his entire life in the Atwood community, passed away at the Colby hospital on Thursday, May 8. Mr. Chester had been ill only about a week preceding his death. He was born in Mason City, Illinois October 17, 1887. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary A. Chester, who is now in the Colby hospital, and a cousin, Mrs. Mary Robinson of Colorado. Services were held at Schandler's Funeral Home. CARD OF THANKS: We desire to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to our friends for the kindness shown us in the passing away of our son and cousin - Mrs. Mary Chester, Roy and Mary Robinson. Note: The birth date is actually October 27, 1877 and age is 69.

      In 1981, Miss Gayle Brown of Atwood, Kansas produced a biographical sketch of those buried at the Blakeman Cemetery near Atwood in Rawlins County, Kansas. It is unclear as to the sources of her information, however the following was given in regard to Frank Chester: "Frank Chester was born on October 21, 1877. He was the only son of Melvin and Mollie Chester. After his father died he had to support his mother and himself by working as a carpenter. He was also an alcoholic like his father, but he quit drinking. He died of a heart attack at the Thomas County Hospital on May 8, 1947. His age at death was 69 years old. His memorial services were held at Schandler's Funeral Home".
