Upper, Franklin R. - 711 E. Hemphill Rd., age 74, died Sunday, January 14, 1968, in Bradenton, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 pm Thursday, January 18, 1968, at Colonial Chapel, Reigle Funeral Home, 2417 S. Saginaw, Rev. Lowell Baggett officiating. Burial in Mt. Morris Cemetery. Mr. Upper will lie in state at the chapel. He was born in Otisville, Michigan, April 28, 1883, and had lived in Flint all his life, spending his winters in Florida since 1960. Mr. Upper attended First General Baptist Church, and had been in the tinsmith and furnace business for many years. He had been employed at AC Spark Plug Division from 1942 until retirement in 1960. Surviving are: wife, Clara G.; son, Donald of Lake Ponemah in Linden; step-daughter, Mrs. Lester Miller of Mt. Dora, Florida; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mrs. Marie Smith of Detroit, Mrs. Alta Dewey of Gardena, California, Mrs. Melissa Thompson of Mt. Morris; 3 brothers, Lee of Flint, Ralph of California and Pearl. A brother Earl preceded him in death in July, 1967.
