    John B. Mulford

    A lifetime resident of the Chehalis area, John B. Mulford, 76, died
    Thursday, July 10, in Centralia General Hospital.
    He was born September 22, 1909, in Chehalis, and served with the
    merchant Marines. Mulford belonged to Chehalis Eagles, Aerie 1550.
    Surviving are his wife, Inez , at home; two daughters, Mary Johnson of
    Rainier and Myra Snaza of Tacoma; a son, Tom Mulford of Puerto Rico; a
    sister, Irma Nunn of Centralia: and six grandchildren.
    A service was held today at the Fern Hill Cemetery, Chehalis.
    Arrangements were under the direction of the Brown Mortuary Service of
    Chehalis.

    Jonathan Burnett Mulford was born August 5, 1835 at East
    Bloomfield, Ontario County, New York and died November 1912 at Chehalis,
    Washington.
    He drove a government freight wagon from Fort Leavenworth
    Kansas to Salt Lake, hauling supplies to soldiers. Jonathan Burnett and 3
    others bought a span of mules and a spring wagon and drove to Marrysville
    California in 1850, where he worked in the mines and hauling logs for
    several years. While there he injured one hand and later he became a
    tinner. He later returned to Iowa and had a tin shop at New Providence.
    He married Myra Catherine Watt November 22, 1864. He had 7
    boys and one girl.

    Millard Dayton Mulford was born on Long Island, New York. Moved
    to East Bloomfield,Ontario County, New York. There he married Mary Munson
    and had 5 sons and 1 girl. Later he moved to New Providence, Hardin
    County, Iowa and is buried at the New Providence Cemetary, He died about
    1897. He was a charter member of the Presbyterian Church at Point
    Pleasant, Iowa. Mary died in 1852. Her sister Ruth married Henry Booth.
