Thomas Dudley of Dudley Manor was appointed administrator of the colony ´uª0 of´uª0´uª ´uª0´uª ´uªMassachusetts. He asked Samuel Sessions, who was his farmer, (overseer of his´uª0´uª ´uª0 farms)´uª0 ´uª0´uª ´uªto go with him to America. Samuel was a member of the body guard for´uª ´uªKing´uª0 ´uª0 George´uª0 ´uª0´uª ´uªwhich were called Yeoman of the Guard. He was 6 feet 4 inches´uª ´uªtall and´uª0 ´uª0 weighed´uª0 ´uª0´uª ´uªaround 250 pounds. He was from Wantage, England. He´uª ´uªreceived an´uª0 ´uª0 honorable´uª0 ´uª0´uª ´uªdischarge from the King so that he could remain with´uª ´uªDudley as overseer´uª0 ´uª0 of his new´uª0 ´uª0´uª ´uªestates. They sailed to America on the Winthrop´uª ´uªFleet in 1630.
´uª0 Samuel Sessions worked for Thomas Dudley for around 16 years in Roxbury,´uª0 ´uª0´uª ´uªMassachusetts then became a freeman and purchased land from the Indians in´uª0 ´uª0´uª ´uªAndover´uª0 ´uª0´uª ´uªfor 6 English pounds and one coat. ´uª0 http://genforum.genealogy.com/sessions/messages/657.html
´uª0 Samuel Sessions is believed to be the first Sessions in
´uª0 America. He came from England in about 1630 with Paul Dudley
´uª0 who became Massachusetts first colonial governor. He managed
´uª0 the property of Mr. Dudley in Roxbury for many years.
´uª0 Samuel was a large man weighing 250 lb. and stood 6 feet
´uª0 3 inches tall. While in England he served as a man at arms
´uª0 for King Charles the First, a son of King James who revised
´uª0 the Bible which become known as "THE KING JAMES VERSION". He
´uª0 must have received and honorable discharge or he would not
´uª0 have been permitted to come to America with Dudley.
´uª0 He had a large family, but there is a record of only two
´uª0 possible sons Alexander and Nathional. He may have had a
´uª0 brother George who followed him to America
