Notes:

During the Civil War Columbus Washington Loy Served in Company A116
Regiment of Indiana Volunteers Company A. Enrolled June 17, 1863 for 6
months and was discharged from the service on 29 February 1864 at
Lafayette, Indiana. Also at Indianapolis, Indiana on 18 Oct 1864 as a
private in Indiana Light Artillery (16) Battery, and Honorably
Diascharged 5 July 1865. Columbus Washington Loy's Monument states: "This
Monument Honors A Soldier And Wife Who Fought To Save The Union."
Columbus Washington Loy died at his house South
Choctaw, Lincoln County, Oklahoma. He resided in Indiana untill about
1873; Illinois untill
1889 ; In Oklahoma from 1889.Columbus Washington Loy "Tump"lived in
Illinoise for 14 years. Craig Loy for whom I got most of my information
from believes he may have had Bounty Land.
Meeker was formerly Clifton. It is located in Southern Lincoln County,
Post Office name changed to Meeker May 29, 1903.

Columbus married Lousia Mary Hill on 26 Oct 1864 in By The Reverend Paris. Lousia (daughter of T. Hill and L. Clark) was born on 27 Dec 1846 in Indiana; died on 25 May 1924 in Meeker, Oklahoma; was buried in New Hope Cemetery, Meeker, Oklahoma. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Louisa Mary Hill could not write and her headstone states" Mother at
Rest" Louisa was buried in Meeker , New Hope Cemetery but died at
Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Louisa's parents were Thomas Hill and Louisa Clark. Thomsa Hill was
born in Kentucky and Louisa Clark was born in Tennessee.

Henry married Sara Ellen Stricklin on 06 Nov 1879 in Pinhook, DeKalb County, Tennessee. Sara (daughter of James Hiram Stricklin and Nancy Caroline Daniels) was born on 04 Feb 1861 in Pinhook, DeKalb County, Tennessee; died on 17 Feb 1928 in Sparks, Lincoln County, Oklahoma. I received information From Craig Warren Loy and he got his
information from 1850 census Randolf County , Indiana, Page 8 #148 White
River Twp.
notes also from Georgia Loy Quinn. Georgia Loy Quinn thinks all of Henry
Loy's children were born in Indiana. The Henry Loy family were in
Tippicanoe County, Indiana in the 1860 census where the lived until they
died. The children list and infromation came from Mrs, Shertzer, R. R. 4,
Box 0-17 Delph, Indiana 46923. ( infro January 30, 1984 )

Henry Loy (sr) Was a Waggon Maker, Blacksmith and a farmer. His
places of residence were Preble County, Randolf County, Indiana,
Frankfurt Farm near Colburn. Henry was 68 years and 9 months old when he
died.

Henry married Delila Vennard on 27 Jun 1830 in Randolf County, Indiana (Justice Of The Peace, Curtis Vorhis). Delila (daughter of F. Vennard and R. Hudgell) was born on 08 Jun 1811 in Warren County, Ohio; died on 08 Mar 1875 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Parents of Delila are Frank or Frances and Rachel Hudgell Venard
(Vennard). Mothers maiden name may be spelled Hughell or Hudgell.
Delilia's father faught in the Civil War. Delila died when she was 63
years and 9 months old.
She is buried in Colburn Cemetery, Tippecanoe County, Indianna.

JOHN LEDFORD MONROE NEIGHBORS,II

(summerized from various sources by Reba Neighbors)

John Ledford Monroe Neighbor II spaned half a continent on his
way here from Lower Duncan Creek Community of Newberry Dist, South
Carolina where he was born16 July 1831.
Very young when his father died, John, Jr. moved with his
mother Lucy and her second husband James Leak to Mississippi, Georgia,
Alabama, and finally to Hardin County, Tennessee.
( in 1840, he is listed as "Ledford" in the home of James Leake
and Lucy Leake in Pontotoc County, Mississippi.
( Lucy and James Leak had more children, so someplace out there
we have a bunch of "half" ancestors- - - children of Lucy that have never
been researched)
In 1851, John married in Pontotoc County, Mississippi to a
Frances Bluford or Beauford Brown in the home of her father William
Brown.
William Brown was Irish, and one census record says he was born
in Ireland; one says in South Carolina. ("County Tyree" Ireland; or Tyree
County North Carolina?)
The young Neighbors couple, John and Frances, soon moved to
Hardin County, Tennessee, built a large home with seven fireplaces which
still stand proudly today. ( When this was written, it was true. Now I
have learned that the house has been abandoned and the furnishing taken
out. It may be in ruin today. )
That home was used for a movie or documentary about Natchez
Trace.. as the home of a Governor. Miles and miles of hand stacked stone
fence- - - laid by slaves without a bit of cement- - lead up to the house
from the little town of Lutz in Wayne County, Tennessee.
John and Francis had nine children: Martha E; George Monroe born
1854 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi; Henry Millard (grandfather of the
Neighbors in the Prague area), William Marcus; Lucy C married 1923 James
Maddox and lived in Shawnee; Nancy E., Mary Francis born in Tennessee
1865 married James Howard Curtis, married twice William Johnson: James F.
died in infancy and Josie Levin born 1871 married Jefferson Davis Hall. (
I believe that's the family that lives in California)
John Ledford Monroe Nabours Jr. was a miller at Shiloh during
the Civil War. He moved his family to Oklahoma and is buried in Brown
Cemetary, about 7 miles west of Tecumesh, Oklahoma.
Francis Brown Neighbors died 1 October of T.B. Just three or
four months later - - 2 January 1889 - - John Ledford Monroe Neighbors
married Georgia Ann Davis. She moved with him to Tecumseh in 1900 and
together they had four or five more children, including the last two who
were twins- - born when he was 65 years old!
Then John himself died 13 February 1904, and is buried in
Pottowatomie County, Oklahoma in Brown Cemetary on Highway 9 beside
Georgia who died 1 January 1926.

John married Francais Beuford Brown on 11 Dec 1851 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi. Francais was born on 20 Dec 1833 in Newberry County, South Carolina; died on 01 Oct 1888 in Hardin County, Tennessee; was buried in Wesley Chapel, Nixon, Hardin County, Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Frances Brown is buried in Nixon, Tennessee at Wesley Chapel, stone. (
Just a few miles north of Pickwick Dam on the road leading from Crump
Tennessee ) Daughter of William Brown, said to be Irish ( born there ? )
or from Tyrell County North Carolina? Not sure of relationship to other
Browns in our Neighbors line, but they must be. Could be clue to lead us
to more info.

Notes:

James Hiram Stricklin and his wife Nancy were the first to be
buried in the Lutts Cemetery, which was part of their farm. They also
have a baby buried their. He was a County Commissioner for 20 years, and
at one time, a Justice of the Peace. Both were members of the Cumberland
Presbyterian Church. James Hiram was thought to have avoided conscription
during the Civil War by hiding out.

James married Nancy Caroline Daniels on 05 Jul 1848. Nancy was born in in Lutts, Tennessee; died on 15 Feb 1915 in Lutts, Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

William Loy moved to Campbell County, Tennessee about 1806 with
parents. He was in Anderson County, Indiana in 1830 age 30-40, female
15-20 , no children in census record, estate filed March 18, 1833. He
lived in Preble County, Ohio. William Loy is Dutch and Barbara Ann is
Pennslyvania Dutch. Craig Loy has Williams Estate Record.

William married Barbara Ann Albright on 21 Sep 1810 in Knox County, Tennessee. Barbara (daughter of A.O. Albreght and E.O.H. Clapp) was born about 1787 in North Carolina; died in 1833 in Ohio; was buried in Preble County, Ohio. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

Barbara Ann's maiden named is spelled Albright or Albreght. Her
parents are John Albright or Albreght and mother is Esther or Hester
Clapp. She was Christened in old Brick Church. Craige thinks maybe in
Indiana. Barbara lived in Tennessee at the time of her marriage.

He is buried in Old Lower Duncan Creek Cemetery near Whitmire
South, Carolina, He married before 1831 (Spelling was changed many ways,
but he used this one.)
John Neighbours Sr. was a slave trader and when he received a
new shipment of Negroes, one poisoned him, or in some manner, killed him,
according to descendants now living in Oklahoma.

Notes:

Lucy Beuford Wright Neighbours married after her husband died
to James Leak of South Carolina. She moved to Georgia, Alabama,
Mississippi and Tennessee. She had four more children after she married
James Leak in 1832. She maybe buried in Adamsville, Tennessee, but more
proof is needed. James Leak is buried in unmarked grave in Old Lower
Duncan Creek Cemetary. ( See Pontotoc County Census ...... I believe 1840
to 1850 )

After Mary Ann died Thomas married a second time to Rebecca
"Becky" Tidwell, She was born about 1850 in Alabama.

Thomas married Mary Ann Strain in 1825. Mary (daughter of J.A. Strain and C. Adams) was born in 1807; died in 1880 in Wayne County, Tennessee. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
