When Mary was pregnant again she was worried so they went back to Proton Twp. She gave birth to Mary Gillies Campbell on May 25, 1885 who died on June 15, 1885. Her mother died 5 days earlier on June 10, 1885.
Duncan left Flora with her Gillies grandparents and he came back to Alcona. After he married Agnes Fettes he sent for Flora to come to Alcona.
