John Curran and Sarah Cray Curran, both born in Ireland. Their children are: Margaret (Aunt Margaret, older sister of Rachel, and married to Alek , maybe Alec, Goslin); Andy Curran, Rachel Curran, James Curran, Robert Curran, Letty (Letitia) Curran, married to a Mr. McCrae, and disowned for turning Roman Catholic. The father of John Curran was a stone mason, building stone fences in Donegal. His name may have been James or John. I think I heard James, once upon a time. (This is my recollection. Aunt Eleanor did not mention this.) The story goes (our story, anyway) that he was building stone fences on a "gentleman's" property and fell in love with the man's daughter, Ann. She had red hair, said Aunt E. My mother and her sisters said that Ann's maiden name was Finley. Aunt E. said her name was Hogg. Finley is a family name, however, Aunt E. said. Anyway, they did marry. My understanding is that the Currans came to Montreal early in the 1800's. I always assumed that the McCluskeys did, too, but I don't know for certain. Came from Donegal, that is. I'm wondering if Grandfather "Stonemason" Curran and his wife Ann came here before his son, John, and his wife, Sarah? - Lisle Law as told by Eleanor McCluskey, daughter of John McCluskey & Rachel Curran
