    HENRYCEASE, born in Luzerne county. Henry was a son of Henry Cease, a native of Germany who came to America when about eighteen years of age, landing in Canada, whence he moved to New York City, then to Hunlock Creek, this county. He was a tailor by trade, but engaged in farming and other occupations pursued by early settlers. His family consisted of four children - three sons and one daughter - of whom Henry, in about 1820, located in Plymouth, about four miles north of the river, where he engaged in farming, and lived until 1856, in which year he died at the age of sixty-seven years. Henry built in 1825 the sawmill which is now owned by his son Josiah, who is also a manufacturer of lumber. He also built in 1846 the first gristmill, now owned by Sydney Gregory. His family consisted of fourteen children, twelve of whom grew to maturity, and nine are now living
