CAPTAIN JOHN J. PEARSON Captain John J. Pearson went on the lakes at the age of twelve years as second porter on the Lake Breeze. He was born in Birmingham, England, August 8, 1868, and in 1873 came to this country with his father, Richard Pearson, who is still living in Parsons, W. Va., engaged in the lumber business. Newspaper Article:
"Local Sayings and Doings" - The venerable Squire Edgar, living a mile north of the village is very ill and not expected to live. While piling wood about two weeks ago he very suddenly lost the use of his legs and fell to the ground almost helpless. He succeeded, however, in crawling into his house on hands and knees and has been confined to his bed since, with no apparent improvement in his condition, so we learn. (Alcona County (MI) Review - Nov 25, 1881)

    Newspaper Obit:
"Another Pioneer Gone" - Andrew K. Edgar, Esq., one of the pioneer farmers of Harrisvile township, is no more, his death having occurred at his residence one mile north of this village, Sunday morning last, after an illness of seven weeks. Mr. Edgar was born in the state of Vermont in March 1802, and consequently at the time of his death was past 79 years of age. After spending the greater part of his manhood in his native State, he subsequently moved to Detroit, Mich., but in what year we have not been informed. Here he met with Margaret Warrington, whose hand in marriage he courted and finally won in 1855, and now survives his death with a family of three sons and four daughters. Eighteen years ago last May the deceased removed to this county, and located a farm just above the village of Harrisville, where he remained to the day of his death. He always bore prominent part in township and county matters, and was elected Justice of the Peace for several terms. In his death Harrisville township loses one of her oldest citizens and public benefactors.
Funeral services of the deceased were held from the M.E. church Monday afternoon. The attendance of friends and neighbors was unusually large. (Alcona County (MI) Review - Dec 30 ,1881)
