Transcription : The last member of the David Mulholland family passed away in Alpena General Hospital July 19, after an illness of eleven and one-half years in Jamieson Nursing Home, in the person of Charles Mulholland, the youngest in a very large family who contributed much to the community. David Mulholland was a justice of the peace of Haynes (then Alcona) Township in 1886; was one of the first of three members of the Superintendent of the Poor Board, had the post office in his home in Haynes prior to the establishment of rural free delivery of mail. He was a Civil War Veteran. Charles was born Apr. 6, 1906, attended Mt. Joy school, worked on their general and dairy farm, became an electrician and wired most of the homes here in 1935, when electricity first came to this part of the country. He was caretaker of Mt. Joy Cemetery and took pride in making it the beautiful spot it is. He was a very good neighbor, ever ready to help anyone. Services were held from Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln, Sat. at three o’clock, Mr. Earl Newmiller officiating. Interment at Mt. Joy Cemetery.
