John Franklin McCluskey1874 - 1953 (78 years)Obituary of John F McCluskey John F McCluskey A former resident of Harrisville, John F. McCluskey, aged 79, passed away Thursday, March 19 in Detroit. Mr. McCluskey had been hospitalized for two weeks and was improving, when he suffered a heart attack Wednesday evening and died early Thursday. Mr. McCluskey was born in LaChute, Quebec, in 1874, and as a boy moved with his family to Oscoda. He later worked in lumber camps at Munising where he married Ella Edgar of Harrisville. He lived in Escanaba for many years. Mr. and Mrs. McCluskey operated the Cottage Hotel in Harrisville for two years prior to Mrs. McCluskey's death in 1939. In later years he made his home with his children. Services took place in Oscoda Saturday, March 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. John's Episcopal Church, with Canon Warren Forsythe officiating. Internment in the Oscoda cemetery. Surviving are three children: Mrs. Wm. (Belle) Callon, Charlesvoix; Mrs. R. A. (Helen) Chester, Detroit; Neil of Harmon, Virginia; a sister, Mrs E. Vaughn, and a brother, Edward McCluskey of Oscoda, and five grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Edwin Killmaster, Lyle MacDonald, Thos. Stone, Percy Somers, and Robert Youngs of Harrisville, and Robert McQuaig of Oscoda.
