William Arthur (Bill) Johnson1924 - 1988 (63 years)Card to Cora from Leila Teeple Yuill 1950 Saturday June 24 Dear Cora, Yes, you wrote me since coming home but I have been so pokey about answering. We have been busy with our berries and just than much more is all I need to keep me busy! They were very good this year and brought us in about $50. Am so glad to know you are getting along so well - and your courage & faith will help you a lot towards full recovery. The things that are accomplished now in the medical world is little short of miraculous. So Bill is coming to Oakland. How wonderful! If he is out here you might spend another Winter in California. Frank thinks he may be back after the Convention. He has got the cabinet work about finished that he went to do. That will make it easier for us to get around - or does Bill have a car? Jim just hates to drive and always did. And he sees so poorly it isn't too safe either. Fernell's wanted us to come & spend a few days with them after we get back - maybe we can kill two birds with one stone, eh? Next Wednesday Jim is having that tumor on his neck removed. It has gotten so big ha can barely stand his clothes. even his suit coat bothers him. Thanks for remembering my birthday - wouldn't have been surprised if you hadn't with all the goings on around your house! If they hadn't changed the California pension law last year, I could start drawing $75 a month now! Now I have to wait two more years. Sounds as tho Jim might have his Social Security expanded - which will help. We hear than Mungo is down in bed again. Hope he is better when we get there. You are right. It won't be long til Aug. and our stay will be so short at each place we will be on our way home before we know it. We leave here July 21- These people we are going with will go up through Oregon & Washington. They have never been up there - and neither have we, so we are going to enjoy that. We just go as far as Duluth with them - & from there ride with some other friends to N.Y. and back to Michigan. We ride back to California with a young couple who have had their trailer parked in our yard. Her folks live in Detroit & his in St. Paul. We are not sure which place we will meet them yet. But we do feel wonderfully blessed to be so well provided for. At first we thought we would not get to Michigan at all. It _is_ grand you can have Sate there. Doesn't she have a family any more? Jim just brought in the last of the berries - and wants his supper. Send me Bill's address when you get it - just in case we have a chance to get over there. Take it easy & continue to improve. I only weigh 120 now - as you aren't much thinner. Lovingly Leila
