Description : A second obituary for Edwin Holmes, Sr.
Transcription : Funeral services were held for Mr. Edwin Holmes at the home residence on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. In spite of the extremely bad condition of the roads a goodly number of friends gathered to the service and followed the remains to Mount Joy cemetery. Mr. Holmes was born in Yorkshire, England, in 1847. He united with the English church when a boy, and frequently attended the Baptist church in Harrisville. Being possessed of a very fine tenor voice, he rendered much assistance in the choir. Rev. E. Draper conducted the service, and members of the Baptist choir had charge of the singing. A number of beautiful wreaths covering the casket gave evidence of the esteem in which the deceased was held.
