- Elias and his father Lazarus purchased land in Jackson county, Tennessee in 1827, 1832 & 1840 for a total of 150 acres.CENSUS RECORDS: 1830 Jackson Co, Tennessee page 139CENSUS RECORDS: 1840 District #11, Jackson Co, Tennessee page 52 976.851 X2l Elias and Parthena were in the 30 to 40 age bracket, there were the following children: 2 boys under 5, 3 boys 5 to 10 (where are they in 1850?), 1 boy 10 to 15, 1 girl under 5 and 1 girl 5 to 10.=Lazarus Jones is listed right before him on this census record.=He was still alive in July of 1848, because he is in some court records. He had apparently died before 1850, as he is not with Parthena and the children. He died intestate before August 1852.In the court case of James Draper vs. James Jones et al. In the case Carel A. Jones was deposed. He was asked if he knew whether Elias Jones was dead. He answered yes that he saw him buried, he died in Union county, Illinois 24 Sep 1850 and made his mark X.
