Georgia Ernest, 84, Last Rites Held September 4
Funeral services for Mrs. Willis (Georgia) Ernest, 84, of Bedford, lifetime Taylor County resident, were held September 4 at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford with Carl Cummings officiating. Mrs. Ernest died September 2, 1974, at Greater Community Hospital in Creston. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford. Georgia Dean Slauson, daughter of Lewis E.[gbert] and Elizabeth Templeton Slauson, was born just east of Bedford, Iowa, October 15, 1889. When she was a young girl she was baptized by Rev. D. W. Griffith and became a member of the East Mission Church. Later in years she transferred her membership to the United Methodist Church in Conway. On December 15, 1912, she was united in marriage to Willis Carl Ernest, at her home in Bedford. To this union, one son, Willis Dean, was born to bless their home and to share their love. She spent her entire life around and in Bedford. In 1917 they moved to the farm east of Bedford where she has since continued to reside.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, who died July 24, 1955. She leaves her devoted son, Willis, and his wife Darline; one granddaughter, Joyce [Ann], and her husband, Robert Hoepker, of Creston, Ia.; a great grandson, Randy; one sister, Edith Ernest; other relatives and many friends. She was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend and she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. (Bedford Times Sep 1974)
