Obit: Mrs. Edwin Holmes Mrs. Edwin N. Holmes, 64, of Harrisivlle, died Saturday, April 8, at the home of her daughter in Ann Arbor, following an illness of several months. The former Florence Phillips, she was born November 12, 1907 in Wayland, Michigan. She came to Alcona County as a school teacher in 1928. On November 7, 1930 she married Edwin Holmes in Alpena and they had always lived in Alcona County. Mrs. Holmes was a member of the Harrisville United Methodist Church, had been the church organist since 1957, was the choir director and a member of the W. S C.S. Surviving are her husband; a son, George of Alpena; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Masich of East Tawas, Miss Helen Holmes and Mrs. Myrtle Gilgallon of Ann Arbor; five grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Zella Scholma of Cadillac, and a brother, Harold Phillips of Coopersville. The body was at the Gillies Funeral Home in Lincoln until noon Tuesday when it was taken to the Harrisville United Methodist Church for 1 oĆclock funeral services, with the Rev. G. MacDonald Jones officiating. Eventual interment in Mt. Joy Cemetery, Haynes Township. Pallbearers were Rev. Williams, Otto Klein, Fred Elgear, Charles L. Herld?, Rev. MacNeil, and Gordon MacGregor?.
