´uª0 Her father, Joseph Carberry, was born in the North of Ireland, and coming to this´uª0 ´uª0 country in´uª0 ´uª0 colonial days took part in the Revolutionary war, being with the army that´uª0 ´uª0 terrible winter at Valley´uª0 ´uª0 Forge. For some years he followed farming in Pennsylvania,´uª0 ´uª0 then moved to Indiana, becoming the´uª0 ´uª0 owner of a small farm in Dearborn county, where´uª0 ´uª0 he and his wife spent their last days. They had´uª0 ´uª0 six children, namely; Valentinc, who´uª0 ´uª0 died unmarried; Peter; Mrs. Nancy Merlatt; Margaret; Mrs.´uª0 ´uª0 Elizabeth Pike, whose´uª0 ´uª0 husband James Pike, was a military man of much talent, and belonged to an´uª0 ´uª0 aristicratic´uª0 ´uª0 family; and Mrs. Lucy McCracken, whose husband was wealthy.
