Edith Ernest, 97, Last Rites Held January 19
Funeral services for Mrs. Fred E. (Edith May) Ernest, 97, of Conway, were held January 19 at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford, conducted by Carl Cummings. Mrs. Ernest died January 17 in the Lenox Care Center, in Lenox, Ia. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford. Edith May Slauson Ernest, daughter of Lewis E. [gbert] and Elizabeth Templeton Slauson, was born May 24, 1878 at Woodhull, Illinois. When a small child she came with her parents and settled on a farm east of Bedford, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood. On January 14, 1903, she was united in marriage to Fred E. [zra] Ernest, and she lived the most of her life in Ringgold and Taylor County. She united with the East Mission Church in her early youth and later transferred her membership to the United Methodist Church of Conway, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, who died April 7, 1957, and a sister, Georgia Ernest, who died September 2, 1974. Since 1955 she had made her home with her sister, Georgia, until about a year ago; since then she has lived at the Lenox Care Center. Left to cherish her memory are a brother-in-law, Glen E. Ernest; a sister-in-law, Lulu Reece; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends. She was a kind and considerate loved one, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
