"Death of William A. Templeton"
William A. Templeton was born in Iredell county, North Carolina, January 10 1817, and died at the home of his daughter Sunday evening August 16, 1908, aged 91 years, 7 months and 6 days.
He moved from his birthplace with his parents, before he was a year old, to Warren county, Ohio, and there they lived until in March, 1832, when they immigrated to Henry county, Indiana.
On February 28, 1841, he was married to Miss Nancy J. Gallant, who was a faithful wife and companion until her death which occurred December 20, 1889.
In the fall of 1864, he and his family left Indiana and moved to Knox county, Illinois, when after a year's residence they moved to a farm near Woodhull in Henry county, Ill. There they made their home until they moved to this county in the spring of 1879. They lived on a farm two miles east of Bedford for two years and then moved to town where he has since resided. There were ten children born to them, five of whom survive. They are D. C. Templeton of Chicago, Mrs. Lydia A. Terbell, Mrs. Elizabeth A. Slauson and Mrs. Sarah E. Slauson, all of Bedford and Mrs. Alcinda Thompson of Missoula, Montana.
Mr. Templeton united with the M. E. church in young manhood and has been a faithful and consistent member since. The funeral was held at the M. E. church Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. W. M. Dudley. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of all.
