- Made her home with son-in-law, Ashmead B. Chester, and grandson, Raymond A. Chester, in Jacksonville, Ilinois following her husband's death. Eventually resided with daughter Delia Slawson Wilkins and husband Walter near Redfield, Iowa prior to her death.

Slawson, Sarah Emily Templeton - Sarah Emily Templeton was born in New Castle, Henry Co., Indiana, March 8, 1856, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Delia Wilkins near Redfield, Iowa, Dec 7, 1924 age 68 years, 8 months and 29 days. She was united in marriage to Henry Edwin Slawson January 27, 1874, at Woodhull, Illinois. To this union seven children were born. Her husband and five children have preceded her in death, leaving to mourn a daughter and son, Mrs Delia Wilkins of Redfield, Iowa, and Dr H.N. Slawson of Kansas City, Mo. Two sisters, Mrs Lydia Terbell of New Sharon, Iowa, and Mrs Alcinda Thompson of San Jose, Calif. One brother, D.C. Templeton of Chicago, Ill. Also four grandchildren. Mrs Slawson has been in failing health for several months and a great sufferer. She was raised by Christian parents and later united with the First Baptist church at Bedford, Iowa. Funeral services were held at her daughter's home in Redfield, Iowa. Interment was made at Bedford Monday, Dec 8th. The relatives wish to express their thanks to the ladies of the Baptist church, who so kindly gave flowers for the funeral. (Bedford Free Press, Bedford, Iowa, Dec 11, 1924)
