Hi
I was just looking for info on Cora Doan who married Joseph Flewelling in St. Clair County,Michigan and discovered your post. I am related to Joseph Flewelling who was the son of Abel Flewelling son of Nehemiah Flewelling. I am related several generations back through another son of Nehemiah-- Isaac Flewelling. All were residents of the Fort Gratiot area circa 1863 and onwards.I think your Titus Doan lived just a house or farm away from the Flewellings in the 1900 census.
Sorry I can't help you in your specific request but would be interested in sharing info about Cora Doan and Joseph Flewelling's four daughters. I am unaware of any sons.I am trying to gather info on the Flewelling side of the family.
Always happy to communicate with anyone interested in the old Fort Gratiot/Port Huron families.

´uª0 James C. Wright would have been born around 1905. He originally married Edith Jane´uª0 ´uª0 Masters. They´uª0 ´uª0 had a son -
´uª0 Claude Fee Wright (My father). James and Edith divorced when my father was very very´uª0 ´uª0 young. I´uª0 ´uª0 know nothing of my biological grandfather - James C. Wright - except that he may´uª0 ´uª0 have been a´uª0 ´uª0 professor of English and he died of cancer in Missouri in the early 1980's. If you´uª0 ´uª0 have ANY´uª0 ´uª0 information on the family line of James C. Wright please let me know.
´uª0 #http://genforum.genealogy.com/wright/messages/15762.html
´uª0 I obtained the following additional information:
´uª0 James Claude Wright was the Superintendent of the schools for the State of Iowa. Prior to that´uª0 ´uª0 he was´uª0 ´uª0 the superintendent of schools for Keokuk, Iowa which is where he is buried. He was a´uª0 ´uª0 naval officer in´uª0 ´uª0 WW II. He was a runner in college at the Iowa University in Drake.
´uª0 I am still looking for his family geneology as he is the grandfather I never knew. If you have´uª0 ´uª0 any´uª0 ´uª0 information please help. Thanks.

´uª0 Biographical Note
´uª0 Educator James Claude Wright was born in Kansas in 1903. He received his B.A. from Drake´uª0 ´uª0 University in Des Moines, Iowa, and his M.A. from the University of Iowa. He spent´uª0 ´uª0 twenty-seven´uª0 ´uª0 years in the Keokuk school system, first as a teacher and coach, then as the high´uª0 ´uª0 school principal, and´uª0 ´uª0 finally as the superintendent of schools. In 1955, Wright was appointed´uª0 ´uª0 State Superintendent of Public´uª0 ´uª0 Instruction in Iowa. He was responsible for closing many small´uª0 ´uª0 town schools and reorganizing many´uª0 ´uª0 Iowa school districts. Because of these and other´uª0 ´uª0 controversial actions, he was not reappointed in 1960.´uª0 ´uª0 Moving to Washington, D.C. in 1961, he´uª0 ´uª0 became secretary of the Committee for the Advancement of´uª0 ´uª0 School Administration. In 1963, he´uª0 ´uª0 accepted the position of director of education in American Samoa.´uª0 ´uª0 Returning to the continental´uª0 ´uª0 United States, he became a professor of education at Northeast Missouri´uª0 ´uª0 State Teachers College´uª0 ´uª0 in Kirksville, Missouri. He remained there until his retirement.
´uª0 Scope and Contents
´uª0 The papers of James C. Wright measure seven linear feet and date from 1933 to 1971. His´uª0 ´uª0 career as´uª0 ´uª0 an educator is documented with correspondence, speeches, clippings, articles, and´uª0 ´uª0 subject files. The´uª0 ´uª0 correspondence fills almost four boxes and spans nearly forty years. Subject´uª0 ´uª0 files exist on a wide´uª0 ´uª0 variety of topics relating to education. These include school district´uª0 ´uª0 reorganization in Iowa, the Iowa´uª0 ´uª0 Department of Public Instruction, the Committee for the´uª0 ´uª0 Advancement of School Administration,´uª0 ´uª0 education in American Samoa, the Iowa Schoolmasters´uª0 ´uª0 Walt Whitman Club, and education in Keokuk,´uª0 ´uª0 Iowa. There are also folders of his speeches and´uª0 ´uª0 articles, and a box of photographs.
