Paulus Buys was the Land's Advocate of Holland between 1572 to 1585 (entit led "Grand Pensionary of Holland" after 1619), essentially serving as t he chairman of the States of Holland and thus the most powerful leader wit hin the United Providences (aka the Dutch Republic) when there was no Stad tholder in Holland. William I of Orange, Count of Nassau, aka "William t he Silent" and the "Father of his Country (Holland)," was assassinat ed on 10 Jul 1584. His eldest son was being held by the Spaniards at the t ime, so Maurice of Nassau, his second eldest son, became Stadtholder but w as only 17 years old. The real leadership therefore briefly passed to Pa ul Buys, one of the ablest men of the estates. He was succeeded by Johan v an Oldenbarnevelt (Land's Advocate of Holland 1586-1618) the following yea r.
The Union of of Utrecht, by which the northern provinces were confederate d, was signed on 29 Jan 1579. Paulus Buys was one of its founders.

Pedigree of Adams family NEHGR (1853) 7:39 portrays an old parchment roll that shows a line back to Ap Adam (1) the Marches of Wales in 13th century. The parchment has many serious contradictions to what we believe today, eg wife of Henry is Rose. Only some of the sons of Henry are shown. Other errors in subsequent article. It is interesting, but cannot be considered credible.
Henry is ancestor of Presidents John and John Quincy Adams thru son Joseph. Emily Dickinson thru both Henry Jr and Mary.
Ancestors of Calvin Coolidge and VP Richard Cheney
