The deceased had a bright and cheerful disposition and was a general favorite among her acquaintances. MRS. JANE SLOAN - 1915
"Mrs. Jane Sloan, 83. was found dead Wednesday morning in her bed at the
home of her son Moses
in Harrisville Township.
She had been ailing of late, was apparently as well as ever when she
retired. Tuesday evening 7:30 O'clock. Her death was due principally to
advanced age.
Mrs. Sloan was the widow of Moses Sloan, who died three years ago at Mikado.
She was born in Antrum County, Ireland, May 01,1832, and had lived the past
27 years in Mikado Township.
The surviving children are Alex and James of Flint, Mary A. Davis of
Montreal, Canada, Sam of Kniferiver, Minn. Will of La chine. Mrs H. Ferris
of Port Rowan, Ont., Ducan and John of Mikado and Moses of Harrisville."
A side note recoreded in the bible of Elizabeth Jane "Jennie" Ferris nee
Sloan she noted that her mother passed from heart disease and her father
Mose Sloane passed from Kidney - Infirmities of Age.
I'm forward the Obituary for Lysa Jane Barr wife of Moses Sloan (Sloane),
the copy of this came from Ada Mae Thompson (nee Ferris).
In a couple family records the surname is noted "O'Sloane", however the "O"
was dropped when Mose and Jane came to North America.
This obituary of Lysa Jane nee Barr Sloan notes that all of her children
were alive as of July of 1915, I do not know what paper the obituary came
from, assuming the Cheboygan or the local Harrisville paper if there was
one.
